Innes first became interested in in fundraising for Cash for Commandos after his nephew stood on a mine in Afghanistan. Innes cycled unsupported from Barra to the Butt of Lewis in what he described as “not ideal weather.” Innes successfully cycled from Ballachulish to the Butt of Lewis via Oban and Barra covering approximately 200 miles and raising not only funds but our profile as well!
Innes is an inspiration to all who aim to help our injured troops.

Two young men hoping to be future Royal Marines climbed Ben Nevis recently in aid of the charity. Jordan & Liam made the conscious effort of doing something in the name of Cash for Commandos as one day it could be their brothers in arms who need our assistance. Here's their story...
The day started with the 7am bus to Fort William. Arriving 3 hours later they warmed up with a 3km walk to the visitor centre. The climb was quite challenging at first due to the steepness and rocks that were prone to wobble when you stepped on them but they got halfway before the path levelled out somewhat. The rocky path zig-zagged up the mountain with snow covering some parts of it and they met various groups coming down saying they couldn't make it to the top but they soldiered on eventually summitting in around 3 and a half hours. After stopping briefly to take in the views from the peak they soon made their way back down, running most of it, taking another 2 hours. At the bottom thirr was long and painful 3km walk back to Fort William.
The boys later commented, "It was a good day out, very challenging and there was no better way to top it off knowing we have raised a couple of hundred pounds for lads that really need it."

The girls who undertook the sponsored walk in November braved typical Scottish weather conditions walking approx fifteen miles. The girls are pictured post walk enjoying some well earned food, drink and warmth at the Stair Inn! The girls raised an amazing amount for the charity and from all at Cash for Commandos a big thank you and well done!!!
