Cash For Commandos Race & Auction night was held at the Ramada Jarvis Ayr on Saturday 2nd October and approx 160 people attended. The night started with Ayr's Andrew Merry performing an amazing set and wowing the crowd.
After guests had settled a video was played to hit home exactly why we were all there and what the money raised would be contributing to.
The racing and betting then started and guests turned into punters cheering on the horses which they had bet and created an outstanding atmosphere. Half time included a buffet provided by 'Taste', not a crumb was left! Then it was time for the raffle which saw guests win great prizes such as £100 gift voucher from Stewart travel, £50 voucher for the Piersland Hotel, Hair at Mitchell Fisher and many more.
The last race of the night was an Auction race where individuals could bid to own horses of that particular race the owners of the winning horse then won half of the bidding pot while the other half was donated to the charity. Again nobody held back and winner and Royal Marine Adam Fradley and his table generously donated their half of the bidding pot to the charity stating ' This is going to a great cause, it’s been a great night so far and we are hear to raise as much money as possible'.
Last up was the Auction which was well presented and conducted by Stewart Ferguson, prizes such as Free MOT, 4 X Tickets for the Scottish Grand National, signed Celtic and Rangers Footballs and West Coast Limo hire were all up for grabs and won.
The night was a great success with all enjoying themselves including Amanda Morrison who said ' I cant believe the amount of people who turned up and the great prizes that were on offer, when's the next one'!
Cash for Commandos would like to thank all who helped with the preparation for the event , the businesses who kindly donated prizes for both the raffle and auction and for all who attended and made the night such a memorable and successful one with an amazing £3110.70 being raised on the night and £4000 being raised in total.
The £4000 raised will be donated to 45 Commando Royal Marines to aide the building of a memorial garden. For more details on this please visit the project part of the website.
